Dear Friends & Neighbors,

First a huge thank you to my supporters. After 3 elections in less than twelve months I know that it was only possible due to the support and help of my dedicated volunteers, friends, family, neighbors, and contributors. Whether you were on the front lines making calls, knocking on doors, writing letters, or just talking to friends and neighbors, make no mistake, all of your help to ensure this victory is greatly appreciated.

Now I won’t try to thank everyone now by name who helped in my re-election, because I’m certain I’d leave out too many people who deserve my thanks. However I would like to thank my parents, Tom and Joan, my husband, Mike, and my children, Miles and Dani for their hard work and constant support, seeing me through my gamut of emotions, and sharing the many joys of this effort.

Second another huge thank you to all those who voted for me. My entire family is so very humbled and grateful for your support and for giving me the opportunity to represent you. Receiving 60.15% of the vote is a wonderful endorsement and indeed an encouragement to build on these successes. I am also proud to say that we were able to run a campaign that featured 100% negative-free content.

Again, I can’t thank you enough for all your sacrifices! We do this because we love our country and because we want future generations to prosper and to achieve the American Dream.

I want to conclude by saying serving as your voice in Jefferson City is a responsibility, honor and privilege I take very seriously. There are significant challenges facing our country – challenges that we must address together as a community, state and nation. I will continue to work on rebuilding our economy, creating jobs, tackling our budget challenges and addressing the concerns of Missouri families and small businesses.

Thanks

Rep Chrissy Sommer

Why did I want to become a State Rep?

Why did I want to become a State Rep and why do I want to continue to be a State Rep?

It is simply stated in the three words in our Declaration of Independence…. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Our Government was founded on very specific ideas and the Government has very specific duties, but when our Government starts assuming roles and duties and jobs that are meant to be held by its people we must get involved.

Growing up I was raised in a Conservative Catholic home and my family exuded family values. Even though I was an only child my family was more than my parents. It was my Grandparents, and my aunts and uncles and my cousins.

We were taught the meaning of hard work and personal responsibility. We also were taught the meaning of community service and service to God.

I believe that we should not be dependent on our Government but the Government should be dependent on it’s people. It says “We the People”, not We the government.

Our Government is a baby compared to many but we are the Best in my opinion. Why everyone in the world does not aspire to be more like us is very confusing to me. God gave us rights and these rights must be protected by our Government, Not taken away by our Government.

I believe as a American Citizen we must protect those that cannot protect themselves. From the unborn to the elderly in nursing homes. From those that cannot speak for themselves to those whose voices are no longer heard.

I hope to once again be elected to serve as your State Rep, but I am also looking toward the future. What do I want to do in the coming years as I serve you.

I see many elderly that are being taken advantaged of each day. Again those that cannot speak for themselves. There is neglect and abuse that occurs in nursing homes and private homes. I have heard this from several of my constituents and I know that this is something that I want to see as a State Rep what we as a State can do to protect these individuals.

But my focus will also be getting our Government back into the role it was meant to do and allowing our citizens to be more self-reliant.

I grew up in a Middle Class Family. Even today my income and way of living is adequate but not excessive. I learned to save and learned to live within my means. And when my means became less, I did less, I spent less, and I worked harder so that I could once again have a better way of life.

We are a great Country and a great State and although we may be heading down the wrong path, we can turn this boat around and go full throttle to a better future. We need to get our debt under control, our spending under control, and get back to the Family Values that will lead us to greatness.

Please join me as I seek Re-Election. I ask that you get involved and make sure that I make it back to Jefferson City where I can do the will of the people.

Again, thanks to all of my fabulous volunteers and for everyone’s prayers and votes!

 I currently serve on the following committees:

*  Appropriations – Public Safety

*  Appropriations – General Adminstration
